Bukana Island Where the Road Ends
We travel over some of the roughest roads I have seen in a while to reach Bukana Island. While it is an island, only 6% of the people have access to safe water and one of the most dangerous places in Uganda to be a mother. 

Bukana is on Lake Victoria and connected to the mainland via swampy marshes which a few years ago was reached by piling papyrus reeds on top of one another to walk. More recently a rocked road has been built to reach the island by car. 

Small Church - a lot of tents!

The church where we met was too small for the gathering. Under multiple tents and shade trees over 200 listened as we taught. From behind us, the view to Lake Victoria was beautiful.

BUT the people gathered slowly but slowly to listen to the story told by the Bible from Genesis to Revelation regarding Jesus Christ.

Over 11 denominations were present. Usually the pastor was the only one to have a Bible and many of their's were missing pages. Several brought their torn copies of their Bibles. 200 Christians received either the new Lusamia or Lugandan or Lugandan/English Bibles. 

They were wonderful hosts. ​

Afternoon Distribution - New Hope School and Orphanage

• Over 100 children in grades 4 through 7 received their first Bible today! Their joy was heard all the way to heaven!
